AEW President Tony Khan has got his hands full for the next few years as the promotion gets ready to begin a new chapter. In the recent weeks, the company has signed some major TV deals and is all set to bring about major changes in the near future.
The company recently signed a new four-year deal with Warner Brothers Discovery, as well as FOX to cater to the Mexican audience with FOX Sports Mexico. With these new developments in place, Khan has announced that they will be focusing on the international market.
Tony Khan focuses on AEW’s international growth
In a recent episode of Wrestling Observer, journalist Dave Meltzer reported that Tony Khan has unveiled AEW’s goal for 2025, and that is to capture the international market. “They are going to do more spending than they’re doing because Tony is very much into international growth. That’s the 2025 goal – to grow internationally and get TV into more international places,” began Meltzer.
He continued “The FOX Sports Mexico deal is the example of the battle plan. The battle plan is ‘This is the station WWE is on.’ What’s interesting is WWE is on the station until the end of the year so WWE did not sign exclusively as they usually do. So they’re both on the same station.”
Earlier this year in October, AEW announced that they have signed a multi-regional broadcast rights deal with FOX Sports Mexico. The press release by FOX read, “With this long-term agreement, FOX Sports Mexico will broadcast all of AEW’s programs and special events, including AEW Dynamite, AEW Rampage & AEW Collision. Beginning October 12, audiences will be able to watch one of the most impressive wrestling events in the world, AEW WrestleDream, which will take place in Tacoma, Washington. Other events to close out the year include AEW Full Gear on Saturday, November 23 and AEW World’s End on Saturday, December 28.”
In the meantime, AEW is all set to fly for Australia for the very first time. The 2025 Grand Slam Australia will commence on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Queensland.
